Whilst some brand owners produce different collections for different markets, with the associated duplication of storage and distribution cost, by choosing Polaroid lenses this is no longer necessary. With Polaroid lenses your sunglasses will meet and exceed optical standards across the globe.
Whilst Australia, China and the US each set a single pass or fail entry criteria, Europe is unusual in operating two classes – Class 1 and Class 2. Whilst Class 1 is the higher standard, both Class 1 and Class 2 are acceptable standards in Europe. Australia has the most stringent requirements, with the US operating entry rules on optical class which are significantly lower than the benchmark required in Europe.
The huge majority of Polaroid lenses exceed the stringent European Class 1 optical standard as well as satisfying Australian, Chinese and US standards, allowing you to provide sunglasses made to the same specification anywhere from Australia to Asia and from Europe to the United States.
Due to the degree of curvature required, some of our extreme lens sizes and bases can only achieve an optical standard of Class 2. These lenses still meet the standards for European markets, and easily satisfy the requirements for sunglasses in the United States.
